Information about insurance available to Equity members.

Insurance - part of your Equity membership

As an Equity member, you're protected at work.

Our insurance offering is a key part of being a union for freelancers. Without these insurances many of our members – from drag and burlesque to stand-up comedy and children’s entertainers – would simply be unable to work. For all members, our accident cover provides an important safety net in a precarious industry of short-term engagements. Your Equity membership ensures this protection – not just for you, but for your fellow members too.

From 1 October 2024, all Equity members are better protected at work with our groundbreaking new package of insurance cover. It represents the highest value and most comprehensive insurance package ever provided as part of your Equity membership.

You’re covered by:

  • Public Liability insurance providing up to £10 million of legal liability claims.
  • Personal Accident insurance providing cover for accidents not only in the workplace but also whilst commuting, auditioning, practicing, rehearsing and training.
  • Backstage personal property insurance providing cover not just at work but in all professional activity relating to performing work.
