You may already be aware that Equity's Equalities Committees are hosting a series of weekly virtual coffees to see us through self-isolation! Join us every Thursday at 3pm to ask questions and get updates from Equity staff on how to navigate freelance life in lockdown.
We want these meetings to be fully inclusive and accessible. If you have any access needs, including the need for a BSL interpreter, please email Amy on email@example.com. Closed Captioning is available for any meeting you attend - just ask at the beginning via the chat function (this can be done privately to Amy Dawson if necessary).
Members can access recordings of previous Zoom sessions here.
As well as this programme of events, many branches are running Zoom meetings for their members. Please see your branch's webpage and check their social media for more information

Equity Zooms in on... Government Policy
Reacting to the Chancellor's announcement on 22nd Oct in the Commons that grants for the self-employed will rise from 20% to 40% of profits, Equity General Secretary Paul Fleming said:
"The fact remains that 40% of Equity's 48,000 members are excluded from the Self-Employed Income Support Scheme and nothing announced today addresses this injustice. For those who are eligible, 40% is well below the support being offered to other workers. This isn't good enough for creative workers, who are among the hardest hit during this pandemic and are also about to be hit with the reimposition of the Minimum Income Floor element of Universal Credit. The Chancellor needs to deliver parity for all working people now. We'll keep demanding the scheme is expanded and extended, not just tinkered with & further reduced."
Equity’s Louise McMullan joins us to update members on the lobbying the union is doing and how you can be involved; Ask your questions, and feed into our ongoing discussions with HMRC/Treasury and Government.
