Open to all Equity members who work as Choreographers and Movement Directors.

The CMDN offers a space to explore the challenges you face in the workplace, build the collective power required to tackle these challenges and develop strategies for improving terms and conditions for those working as Choreographers and Movement Directors across the industry. 

Join the network

We want to make it so Choreographers and Movement Directors are:  

  • Included in relevant collective agreements. 

  • Credited in existing agreements and “movement” is included in these terms. 

  • Protected by improvements to existing contracts or by the introduction of clauses to receive appropriate crediting, recognition and remuneration.  

  • Given creative and material parity with other Heads of Department/creative team leaders across production types.

Although the newest Equity network, we're already making our voices heard loud and clear. As part of our work so far, we've developed A Manifesto for Choreographers and Movement Directors, setting out our vision for an industry that recognises, respects and properly rewards our work. We've also created a practical guide to engaging choreographers and movement directors, helping producers and creative teams put fairer working practices into action.

I feel immensely proud to be part of Equity and to have started the CMDN. With some 200 members, to have that much representation within the infrastructure of Equity is something I feel immensely galvanised by and proud of. The network is a coming together of passionate individuals who want their profession to be seen, recognised and respected. Equity staff have given me confidence that we can change antiquated standards and with each member that joins, I feel the effort easing for everyone.
