We have reached a landmark deal with longstanding touring company Mikron Theatre Company on terms and conditions for performers.

The new house agreement between Mikron Theatre and Equity cements industry standards in the northern touring theatre company and reflects Mikron’s commitment to improving the work environment. The agreement has been specifically created to recognise Mikron’s unique working practice and touring schedule, whilst ensuring that performers are covered by best practice in the workplace.

Based in Huddersfield, Mikron tours nationally by narrowboat in the summer and by road in spring and autumn, bringing professional theatre to every conceivable venue.

Pete Toon of Mikron Theatre said

After decades of a good working relationship with Equity, we're so pleased to be able to offer our first house agreement in 2023. The process has been a genuine collaboration. We've always been advocates of union membership, and as we look towards our next half century of touring great theatre to non-theatre venues, there's no better time to formalise our contracts with actors.

Dominic Bascombe, Equity Regional Official for North East, Yorkshire and Humberside, said:

This is a great step forward by Mikron Theatre who have shown their commitment to operate a fair and decent workplace. Mikron is a much loved and longstanding theatre company in the north of England and this agreement will be welcomed by our members as well as the wider community.
