Equity UK and Irish Equity Members Only – Discussion on Portrayal of Performers from the Island of Ireland

Members of Equity UK and Irish Equity, including those who identify as Irish / Northern Irish who do not live on the island of Ireland are warmly invited to this joint meeting with agents and casting directors on the island to discuss issues of portrayal.

In July 2022 the Northern Ireland branch of Equity UK asked its members about barriers to their work, and a number of members expressed that they felt typecast into traditionally ‘Irish’ or ‘Northern Irish’ themed roles or to portray the ‘Irish’ or ‘Northern Irish’ look. Others were concerned about whether their perceived LGBT+ status might affect the roles they were offered, or their age and gender might be factors in casting.

This zoom webinar is for you if you would like to explore this and other issues of portrayal with agents, casting directors and Spotlight (Ireland).

The meeting will be a safe space where views and opinions are respected and respectfully shared. Those who attend will be asked to provide their questions and comments in advance and then called upon to put those questions and comments to the speakers.
